N-Acetyl-L-Cysteine, also referred to as N-Acetyl Cysteine or simply abbreviated as NAC, is a supplemental form of cysteine, a semi-essential amino acid found in high-protein foods such as eggs, chicken, turkey and sunflower seeds. Cysteine is called semi-essential because the body can make it from two other amino acids: serine and methionine. NAC can positively influence the body's levels of glutathione, one of the most powerful antioxidants.
